Dzibanche & Kohunlich
Two of the most magnificent archeological sites on the Yucatan Peninsula few have ever visited
Dzibanche
Featuring one of the tallest pyramids in the Yucatan which people are still allowed to climb. This complex is impressive for the height of the pyramids, and the feeling of what it must be like when these discoveries are made. Only a small portion of the site has been excavated as evidenced by the trees growing out of the sides of several structures.
Kohunlich
Famous for the giant masks on one pyramid, and rightfully so. With several of the masks standing approx 10-12 feet tall, they are amazing! When we visited, work was currently being done to restore and preserve the masks for future generations to experience.
